I'm at music camp updating from the library. I hope I am not typing too loud because I have a tendency to bang on the keys since my keyboard at home does not work v. well. Music camp isn't much of what I expected (please forgive me anyone who loves it here). It could be so much better. The music program is great but the social/residential program needs some upgrades. Like many many counselors are my age (16) or just a year older and we have to be walked everywhere by them which really has a tendency to suck. And there isn't as much acceptance here... Not like at CTY where everybody is exactly who they are and that's that. I'm seated first flute, fourth chair which isn't that bad since the top two seated flutists are counselors. So I am the second best camper here. I made select wind ensemble, and for any of you who know about pieces, we're playing the following: "Purgatorio" and "The Ascention" from the Divine Comedy. (concert band) "Irish Tune and From County Derry" and "Shepards Hey English Morris Dance" by Grainger and "Pas Redouble (Double-Quick Step)" by Saint-Saens. (select wind ensemble) They're all really fast and hyper pieces that I really don't want to think about. I am playing at least three hours a day (but it is more with the added practice) and then I sing an hour a day (it's required - so even though I can't sing, I gotta do it - everybody has to). So it is tons of music but I am loving it. Auditions had me scared because the last time I auditioned for something was in October (Cinderella pit orchestra) and I didn't have to learn anything for that. I just had to sight read and play some difficult scales when I got there. This on we had to learn a very rapid selection from "Purgatorio" in four or five hours and then come to auditions. In addition to the scales and sight reading we were surprised with on arrival. But I did well, and therefore am very glad that I came through under tremendous pressure. Next week I am going to do woodwind ensemble, concert band, flute ensemble (I am doing that this week too) and hopefully select wind ens. again. ens. = ensemble. I have eight minutes so I will try to make this brief: I got a review back and she told me not to talk about Joshua and that I have to archive (I know I do, but webtv won't let me for some reason and I do not have time right now... It takes forever to get to the library from Dana Arts Center), and blah this and blah that. My fingers hurt and are stiff from all the playing that I have done and now I am sitting here rapidly typing my butt off. My fingers don't want to do this at all. I can not wait until CTY. My roomies are great too. Ashley (best friend) and Megan (new friend). So is the rest of my hall. I have to tell you the Devin story, but I don't have time now and I have to post up all of the songs we have written so far = grand total of two. It is time to go now. Yay! Going to flute ens. I love Joshua. <3 Chelsea
