so i figure i will give you a full, complete, ever-so-detailed biography of me. because i figure here that no reads that freaking profile and i think they have a character limit or something... so here we go. if you haven't figured it out now, my name is chelsea and i am a fifteen year old flute playing band geek new yorker female who's madly in love with some guy named joshua. so let's break it all down... i was born on may 15th, and since i am fifteen, that must mean i was born in 1987, right? ding-ding-ding, right! i was born into a happy family, where i was the only child, and now i am the oldest of four kids. there's my kid brother (he's the youngest) christopher, and then my sisters kimberly and molly are the middle kids. my parents are cool (usually) and some things tend to be a little crazy. i play flute and i am the quintessential band geek. i have been playing flute since fifth grade, and i have absolutely loved every second of it. since then, i have taken up alto saxophone (although i have not played for... awhile), and i just picked up the piccolo. i also played in a handbell choir for two years with a local church that i do not attend. i have played in ten school concerts, as well as seperate performances (like an honors band concert in eighth grade and two choir camp orchestra thingys). i went to band camp one summer, and now i am a high school mentor there. before i get onto my high school credits... is there anything else? i was in jazz band in seventh grade and the graduation band when i was in seventh grade for the eighth grade moving up ceremony. now with my high school band credits: as a freshman i was first seat in the freshman band, and one of the top five flutists in the school. i was in honors band and the pep band and wind ensemble... now as a sophomore, i am first flute, first chair, which has gained me enemies. i am also first piccolo even though i have only been playing for a couple of months. i was second flute (and the only student) in the pit orchestra for our school's performance of 'cinderella' and i will be in the pit again for our spring musical. i am first flute in the symphony orchestra as well. (oooh i love my musical life!) now time to talk about that joshua guy. yeah, i love joshua, we've been dating since january 22nd of 2001. it's a long time to be dating someone when you're only fifteen. but then again, i have fallen in love with him (we fell in love on march 3rd, 2001) and i don't want to lose him, and he doesn't want to lose me. and things have been going so well lately. we're a lot alike, we both love music and boradway, we're both geeks, we're both debaters, and everything. i'm always writing about him, i always have something to say about us. (= we've gone through some pretty rough times, btw, so everything isn't all peachy. i'm a geek. well, i am really, really smart and i do all sorts of school things. i am in all honors classes. i worry about grades, and if i get a 94, i am not satisfied. i (sometimes) cry over 99's because it is so close to a hundred. so close... and i debate. i haven't debated this year, because last year i was a policy debater, and this year i started to learn lincoln - douglas (ld) debate. i am just watching debate tournaments right now, but it is great because i am (a) on my boyfriend's debate team and (b) i get to watch his debates. i'm busy. i do a lot of extra curriculars, like all of my bands and orchestra stuff. but then there's debate (as explained above) and also community service club (csc). csc is fun, and i am starting to do bunches of volunteer work for it (like tutoring at a children's center) which should keep me even busier. by the way, i use a lot of '...' thingies. i don't remember what they are called. one of my ta's at cty told me. oh yeah! i am a ctyer. cty stands for 'center for talented youth' and that is what it is. it is a summer program for talented (like... smart) kids and you get in by taking the sat (usually in seventh or eighth grade) and scoring high enough in either (or both of) the verbal or math sections... and you sign up in march time-ish and if you get in, you go for three weeks and you take a college level course for three weeks. three weeks = one session, and you can go for two sessions and stay for intersession (the day and a half in between sessions) if you really want to which is what i did last year. and i am going back for my last year next summer. my cty credits include... in 2001, i was at carlisle session two. i took crafting the essay, and was in quad eight on floor one. in 2002, i was at carlisle for both sessions. first session, i took philosophy of mind and was in quad six on floor two. i intersessioned, which made me an "intersession orphan." and then second session, i took the critical essay: popular culture and was in quad ten on floor two. josh and i were the residential couple both sessions this year, and we will be next year. we were known as "chosh". the 'ch' comes from chelsea and the 'osh' comes from joshua, if that was not clear. musical tastes of mine... i love nearly everything. as stated before, i am a huge broadway fan and my favorite musical is les miserables. i listen to everything from christian rock to flute solos to normal music. in the christian area, i like dc talk, kevin max, tobymac, newsboys, etc. in the normal arena, i love avril, lifehouse, catch 22, and other things. i don't want to list it all. i love to read (some faves = wheel of time, anne of green gables, left behind series) and i watch a lot of movies (some faves here = minority report, beauty and the beast, the matrix). and that's me. i hope you liked it.
